BIOREACTOR INFLATION

Challenge

Single Use bioreactors consist of a pre-sterilised, disposable plastic bag as the culture vessel, housed within permanent hardware. Used in the early production of medicines, they eliminate the need for cleaning and sterilisation between batches. However, they are incredibly challenging and time-consuming to install and inflate as they consist of a hugely complex array of parts that need to remain sterile and avoid damage which would compromise the viability, quality, and result in potential production loss.

Solution

We created a single use bioreactor configured into a unique packaging design solution. This provides protection during transport, simpler handling, and a cartridge concept combined with an inflation mechanism that enables groundbreakingly fast installation and inflation of less than 30 minutes.
