SPACE PROJECTOR
Challenge
Light shows were intrinsic to the 1960s psychedelic music culture in dance clubs and were for professional use only. An example was the Kinetic Light which projected light through an organic flow of oil. My challenge was to create a reminiscent product for domestic use that could fit within the iconic company portfolio.
Solution
My solution was to create the Space Projector, which projects a moving lava lamp image. This involved engineering the essential mechanisms/optics, user interface, form, moulding design, and testing. In all, 17 injection-moulded parts were developed and the whole project was completed within 1 year.
